Rejuvenation - Exfoliation to Resurfacing By Peter T. Pacik, M.D., F.A.C.S. Part 6 - Overview
We at SkinCare-MD hope these educational e-mails on "Exfoliation to Resurfacing"
have helped you understand choices available in advanced skin care. Parts
1 - 5 of this series of e-mails are available in the newsletter
section of our website skincare-md.com.As always, we encourage you to send us e-mails regarding your thoughts and future topics that you would like discussed. We encourage you to share your experiences both positive and negative with us. Your comments are important to us. I. Exfoliation - Superficial removal of dead cells from surface of skin. No Anesthesia
II. Resurfacing - Removal of outer layers of skin. Healing ("resurfacing") from deeper layers of skin. Some type of anesthesia is needed
Whether you choose exfoliation or a method of resurfacing, patients should follow the MD Forte 3-Step Advanced Skin Care Program as discussed in previous e-mails. LRS and Kinerase are added to enhance the skin care program. These products will re-establish moisture and maintain the healthy, glowing appearance of the new skin. (See below for links to individual products). Over-the-counter and esthetician products contain a smaller percentage of glycolic acid. These products are often neutralized to the degree that they are poorly effective. Forte has stronger concentrations of glycolic acid; and therefore, is both more effective and works quicker. Because of these stronger concentrations, they are available only through a doctor's office. |
