Mystikols, Sensuality and mystique with this new generation Kohl from Jane Iredale
by Carol Mandro, Skincare Associate Kohl is an ancient eye cosmetic. It was made by grinding lead sulfide with other ingredients to make a cosmetic to darken eyelids and lashes. Kohl was traditionally worn as far back as 3500 BC by Egyptian queens. In ancient times it was thought that by darkening the eyelids this way it would protect the eyes against the rays of the sun, protect against eye ailments, protect against evil spirits (the evil eye), and possibly even strengthen the eyes. It was also worn for special celebrations and religious occasions by both men and women, mothers believed it would protect their children from evil. Nowadays, the formulations are manufactured with ingredients that meet current health standards without harmful lead. The NEWJane Iredale Mystikols are a new generation kohl. This updated version packs all of the sensuality and mystique of an ancient beauty Egyptian tradition into a dual-ended powder eyeliner that enables you to create a smoky eye in seconds without any mess. This moist yet powdery eye product may be used to line the eyes or may be applied as an eye shadow, that won't fade, crease or smear. The sponge applicator is double-ended with a deep color on one end and a pearlescent highlighter on the other. The highest quality ingredients combined with natural botanicals and super saturated pigments ensures the longest lasting smoky eye product of modern times. Mystikols application is effortless and the look is stunning. Mystikols come in five super natural shades: Malachite: A sparkling moss with buttery beige Amethyst: Royal Purple and luxurious pearl Dark Topaz: Rich brown with velvet rose Lapis Lazuli: Vibrant blue with shimmering ivory Onyx: otherworldly black with creamy pearl Great for the holidays. We have been experimenting with these new Mystikols and find we can vary the intensity to create daytime or evening or even a more seductive look for a more intimate occasion. The rich eye liner can be applied directly to the eyelid with the sponge applicator and blended (or not) with your finger, with the sponge tip or with a brush. We have applied it with a brush for a more natural daytime look, used the highlighter to highlight the brow bone, highlight the inner corner of the eye, applied it as shadow, you can really have fun with these and dial it up or down depending on the look you want. Mystikols are hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and always formulated with exclusive skin care ingredients and safe for even the most sensitive eyes. To use, lightly press the sponge down into the cap several times to load it with powder. You may use the sponge applicator and directly apply either powder to your eye or you can use a brush. The Jane Iredale Brushes you might want to consider using with Mystikols are the Crease Brush, Smudge Brush, Eye Contour Brush, Deluxe Shader, Chisel Shader Brush, Eye Shader Brush or the Small Fluff Brush. For lining with a brush, use the Angle Brush, Detail Brush, Eye Liner/Brow Brush or the new Angle Definer Brush.
